Polish FA say Ukraine will be ready

Grzegorz Lato from the Polish FA has said this week that the Ukraine will be ready to co-host Euro 2012. The two European countries were given the crown to host Euro 2012 back in April 2007, yet since then many progress deadlines for stadiums, roads and airports have been missed. Doubts were risen when they submitted their co-hosting bid. Italy was a firm favourite to host the event but it was handed to Poland & Ukraine.

Ukraine has been hit hard by the credit crunch and doubts have been rekindled - speculation has even arisen that Germany maybe a replacement.

The 14th UEFA European Football Championship will be held between the 8th June and the 1st of July in Poland and Ukraine. The decision for the two countries to jointly host the biggest competition in European football was made in Cardiff, Wales by UEFA on the 18th of April 2007 - Croatia and Italy were not successful in their bids to host the Euro 2012 football competition. Euro 2012 is set to be the last competition to have 16 nations participate - in Euro 2016 it is set to expand to 24 competing nations. The current holders of the cup from Euro 2008 is Spain, who also won the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
