Telewizja Polska gets exclusive Euro 2012 TV rights

UEFA and TVP have agreed an exclusive deal for the broadcasting of Euro 2012 in Poland. The agreement is the first TV rights agreement to be made for the prestigious tournament in 2012 hosted by Poland and the Ukraine.

The agreement allows TVP to show all 31 Euro 2012 games on all their free to air channels as well as live on their website. It also cover highlight programmes. TVP will also run a number of promotions in the lead up to Euro 2012 in June.

TVP guarantee to provide a unique viewing experience and they are a leading broadcaster in Poland and are one of the few that could offer the Euros in HD in Poland.

David Taylor said "UEFA is delighted to welcome TVP as the first member of the exclusive group of UEFA EURO 2012™ official broadcasters".

Agreements with broadcasters in other countries are set to follow.

The 14th UEFA European Football Championship will be held between the 8th June and the 1st of July in Poland and Ukraine. The decision for the two countries to jointly host the biggest competition in European football was made in Cardiff, Wales by UEFA on the 18th of April 2007 - Croatia and Italy were not successful in their bids to host the Euro 2012 football competition. Euro 2012 is set to be the last competition to have 16 nations participate - in Euro 2016 it is set to expand to 24 competing nations. The current holders of the cup from Euro 2008 is Spain, who also won the World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
