Euro 2012
President of UEFA, Michel Platini, has said that Ukraine will not lose the right to host the Euro 2012 competition with co-host Poland despite the country being harshly effected by the economic slump.

The Ukraine has always been a concern for UEFA since the announcement was made that they would host the tournament in 2012 alongside Poland. From the off there were doubts that the Ukraine could meet the promises made in their bid.

Of late, there has been increasing concern that Ukraine would be stripped of the honour to host the event and it would be handed to either Germany or Italy.

However, Platini, who is currently in Kyiv, has made a bold announcement; "It is impossible that Ukraine would lose Euro 2012". This has come as a great relief to all involved in the Ukraine but a lot of work is still to be done to convince UEFA that they will, in fact, be ready when Europe descends on their nation for Euro 2012. Hotels, roads, airports and stadiums are said to be progressing but most are well behind schedule.
