Ukraine to house Euro 2012 fans in un-used Army bases

Ukraine, who is struggling to meet accommodation demands by UEFA, has offered up the solution to host travelling fans at un-used army bases around the country. The move comes as Ukraine have stated that there will be few accommodations avaible to travelling fans and they do not have time to construct any more.

Preparing the infrastructure has fallen behind schedule in the Ukraine due to political and financial reasons.

The plan was suggested to refurbish old river cruise boats and offer the cabins and restaurants to visitors.

UEFA officials earlier this year reported that the lack of hotels, roads, public transport and customer service would all need improving in time for Euro 2012.

Ukraine is not out of the woods yet. They could still lose the right to host any of the Euro 2012 games if their effort is not noticeable by UEFA. Michel Platini has already warned the organisers.

The next review of Ukraine’s progress will be made by UEFA in December.
